The
Civic Association is in the process of trying to get a grant
from The Columbus Foundation to help us replace the neighborhood
entrance sign on the island. This was a project from last
year that we never quite collected enough money to do the
project. We hope that with the grant and possible
donations from the community, we will be able to completely
replace this aging sign for our neighborhood. If you are
interested in donating to the cause, please send Jason Weis an
email through this website.

The
City of Columbus has initiated a new phone number
(614) 645-3111
and
system that allows its residents to have a centralized contact point for reporting all
non-emergency issues. This includes Code Enforcement issues, snow removal issues, waterline breaks,
City lighting issues, potholes, etc. You will be assigned a
tracking number that you can also use to see the status of your issue at
their new web address:

Several
people in the area have asked what the Columbus City Noise Ordinance
(2329.11) is and how it relates to our neighborhood. Click on the
noise maker to the left to see the actual City ordinance.
Hopefully, it might answer some of your questions. |

We
have added a new section to the Devonshire website called the
Animal Registry.
Local resident, Sandy Colombini, came up with the good idea of having a
database, that everyone can have access too in the neighborhood, that
would allow all of the residents in our area to register their pet(s).
This new (FREE)
feature is now ready! You can now enter pertinent information
about your pets so that if they escape or are injured in the
neighborhood, people can scan the information posted on this site to see
if the animal belongs to a local resident, prior to calling animal
control or the police. Simply click on the Animal Registry button,
in the menu to the left, to see current posted animals. You can
also be directed from this screen to add your own pet(s) to the
database. If you would want us to also post a picture of the
animal with the information entered, simply e-mail a digital picture to:
CPARKER1212@MSN.COM OR you
can mail a hard copy picture, to be scanned, to:
Chuck
Parker

This
is a reminder that it is illegal
to have semi cabs or commercial trucks of any kind parked on the street or in your driveway within a residential
neighborhood, such as Devonshire. If these vehicles are seen in the
area, either the Columbus Police or City Code Enforcement will be notified and you will be asked to remove it from the area. Persistent parking of
these types of vehicles in the neighborhood will, in most cases, end up with the owner being fined. If you see someone parking a commercial vehicle
within Devonshire for any length of time, please contact the DCA (June Gatton) at
885-0721
or you can e-mail us via this website below...

Before
you dig on your property, it is always a good idea to contact the
Ohio Utilities
Protection Service
so that they can
have all of the utility companies mark their respective services that may be
right where you're going to dig. You can also click on the man working
to see a PDF document that tells you what the spray paint colors mean that
the companies mark on the ground. |

3.5 year
ODOT project. Click on the construction cones to go to the website
that outlines the entire undertaking. |

Until
Devonshire gets street lights installed in our neighborhood, please
consider the following... If everybody left their porch light on
all night it would be at least a little safer in the area. The
lights from each home would bring at least some security to the dark
streets. The DCA did some research with the AEP (the electric
company) and it really is not that expensive to leave your lights on.
Here is what we found out.
The cost of operating
a 60 watt bulb, 24 hours a day, for 30 days (entire month), is
approximately $3.44. For 12 hours a day, for 30 days (entire month), it
would only be about $1.72, while the cost for just
12 hours
is roughly only
5.73 cents.
The cost for security lighting depends on the wattage of bulb used.
These typically are 60 to 100 watt bulbs and would cost between
approximately $2.00 and $4.00 per month. Motion detecting lighting
costs depend on how often they are on and bulb wattage, but typically
would be just pennies per month.
So basically for about
6 cents a day we could make our neighborhood a little brighter and
safer. Please think about it and turn your porch lights on for the
evening hours... |

There
has been a lot of confusion regarding bulk pickup in the Columbus area
and our neighborhood specifically. If you have
bulk
trash items, that need to be hauled away, you MUST contact a special unit
of the City Trash Division ahead of time (preferably
the week before)
to have them come and pick up the items. You can contact them at:
(614) 645-8774.
They will not take certain items like
construction materials and things like sinks and toilets. Items
such as these must be hauled away to the local city or a private
dumpsite. Also, please do not put trash items in plastic of any
kind (bags or otherwise) at the curb. The City
only picks up what is in your normal
trash container, if it doesn't fall under the bulk item pickup items.
Click on the trash truck to the left to see a more detailed flyer from
the City regarding Bulk Pickup. |
